Career
For the most part I know most of you really don’t care about me, you just want to know if I can help you with your real estate transaction, but there are some that actually do care to know something about me, so here it goes.
I began my real estate career in 2002 in Northern Virginia, working primarily as a buyer’s agent, though I did spend time in 2003 and 2004 working in Sales in New Home Construction. After getting married I moved across the border to Maryland. When the bottom started falling out of the real estate marketing in the Washington DC suburbs, my New Home Builder husband decided it was time to make a move. Resumes went out all over the country and the first place that came calling was Charleston, SC. So we made the move-with a little bit of kicking and screaming from me. Once we settled in I made the decision that I did not want to work in real estate as an agent in my new home, I wanted to take a new direction.
So I started Busy Agent Solutions, a marketing/consulting/photography/staging/computer tech/website design/ listing coordination/ closing coordination/ short sale process/ client services company. Yes, that’s a lot of slashes and I probably left a lot out! For 6 years I worked for a number of top real estate agents helping build their business and assisting them in giving their clients world-class services.
But then it hit me… I want to go home and I want to work with my own clients again. I told my husband that night that I was going back to Maryland, and he was welcome to come with me. I am so happy to be back in Maryland, doing what I love best, working with buyers and sellers.
What you get from me
I’m a real estate consultant, not a salesperson. I do not use high pressure tactics to convince you to do something that you are not totally sold on. In fact, I will always go the extra step to be the voice of reason, so I may ask you twenty times, “Are you sure you are ready to sign that contract?” It does not mean I think you are making a mistake, I just want to make sure that you are sure.
I believe that technology is good, really good. If you want to communicate primarily by email GREAT! Just let me know, and your wish is my command. Please take advantage of my search tools, though at some point I will ask you to register to continue using them. Why? Because it makes it easier for everyone. I’m not out to gather your information and start calling you 20 times a day- believe me on this one. I just know how confusing house hunting can be if you keep switching from site to site. Once you register, you will love how you can save searches, save your favorite properties and modify your own user settings.
I try to make myself available to clients when I am needed, but keep in mind, if its before 8:30 a.m. I probably haven’t had my necessary caffeine intake so I may not be the most coherent. Feel free though to take advantage of my email 24 x 7. It’s generally always coherent.
I am frank, I will tell you the truth, sometimes without the sugar coatings. Some people don’t like that, hopefully you will!
Life Outside of Real Estate
Yes I do try to have a life outside of real estate. I love to take pictures, lots and lots of pictures. I love to cook though very little of it is by recipe. I think I like to hike, but not quite sure yet. My crowning achievement in my hiking career was hiking to Ramsey Cascades in Gatlinburg. Had we realized it was 4 miles UPHILL on rough terrain I wouldn’t have this to brag about, but I guess I didn’t read the trail guide very well. If in our dealings we go out to eat, you will notice that I cannot eat gluten- and yes I will hate you if you order that piece of cake, but please do it anyway. When I go out to eat with my husband he asks for EXTRA gluten in everything, so I am used to it.
Still here? I haven’t scared you off yet? I’d love to hear how I can help you today. Now sit down and write a 3 page essay and submit it to shauna@MyMDagent, or if you’d like you can just fill out this short form.
